CHAIR, ACADEMIC NURSING

Wake Forest School of Medicine is seeking a national leader as our new Chair of the Department of Academic Nursing.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a thriving academic department and build on prior success, leveraging the talents of a diverse group of faculty, staff and students as our medical school and health system enter into a period of unprecedented growth.

The Department of Academic Nursing at Wake Forest School of Medicine is a recognized leader in the field of nursing programs. We offer a 3-year full-time anesthesia curriculum leading to the attainment of a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and a post-master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Program.

Our department is composed of eight doctorally prepared faculty members and four staff members. Most of the staff members have a Master’s degree supporting the educational activities of the learners. Our faculty and staff assimilate their knowledge and skills in providing on-site and distance education. We have nationally renowned faculty who disseminate their body of scholarly and clinical expertise on regional, national, and international educational and professional events.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or nursing specialty field
  • Distinguished academic career including a leadership role within an academic department.
  • Academic achievement consistent with rank of associate professor or higher.
  • Evidence of successful teaching in higher education.
  • Preferred experience will include success in administration of programs in higher education to include strategic planning, budgeting, operations, and collaboration with colleagues.
  • An authentic leader with a proven history of fostering a supportive culture of growth, innovation and collaboration
  • Ability to collaborate across the educational and clinical enterprise as well as with outside institutions
  • CCNE accreditation experience
